ALL MEMBERS PLEASE READ
In response to requests from AJCA members,
parents, county agents and agriculture teachers
across the state, the AJCA board voted to make a
change that we feel will impact all of our
members in a positive way. Effective
beginning in 2008, year-end award totals will be
calculated using only the highest 12 point
entries (shows) per exhibitor per division.
For example, if a member shows in a breed at 14
shows, only the 12 shows with the highest points
will be used for award purposes. This
change has been made so that members don't feel
like they have to pull to shows every weekend to
win AJCA year-end awards. We understand
how the change in the economy and the increasing
fuel costs are affecting everyone. We are
doing what we can to help.
The only contest that will still be decided
using all points from all shows is the Overall
High Point - Jason Bertschy Memorial Award.
Points will still be collected, calculated and
posted the same way throughout the show season.
However, when points are totaled at the end of
the year we will use the highest 12 point
entries in each breed and showmanship division
for each individual (if you show in more than
one breed your 12 high point shows could be
different for each breed). We still
encourage each exhibitor to go to as many shows
as possible. The AJCA Board hopes this
will take some of the financial pressure off of
our members and their families. We also
understand that many questions will arise from
this. Please feel free to contact any of
the board members, listed on the AJCA website,
with questions or contact me directly at
479-616-4119 or
kpruitt@marathongl.com
NOTE: State Fair offers several
opportunities for showmanship points.
These have always been and will continue to be
recorded as one entry for State Fair.
